A summary of the story thus far…

Nuztai was a world class trainer from Kanto, now training in the Hoenn region. A fateful encounter with a certain nuzlocker introduced the Six-League Champion to the ancient ritual known as the Nuzlocke Challenge. After shaking down Professor Birch for more info, he left his hoard of expertly bred pokemon behind to start a Nuzlocke Challenge of his own in his home region of Kanto. There, after an almost rude conversation with his former mentor, Professor Oak, Oak challenged Nuztai to take things a step further, and challenged him to capture a living pokedex of all the region’s native pokemon. Nuztai laughingly accepted, and his Dexlocke was born.

Many trainers make the mistake of underestimating the challenge of a Nuzlocke, but none so spectacularly as Nuztai, who, after catching his first nuzlocke pokemon on route 1, Barry the Pidgey, caused poor Barry’s death in its first training battle. No loss has haunted him quite like it since, but he mourns each and every loss on his journey.

Though Nuztai’s first Nuzlocke Challenge of the Indigo League started off pretty rough, he eventually fell into the groove, defeating entire gyms and long caverns without any loss of life. It was typically only his attempts to capture legendary pokemon toward the end of his challenge that further weakened his team.

Now, after completing the Indigo League in Nuzlocke and completing the living dex (to the best possible), Nuztai has a newfound respect for his partners that he’d long lost. But, at the same time, he craved something new. After explaining his new anxiety to Professor Oak and his mother, Oak had a moment of inspiration! His cousin, living in the far off Alola region, had recently conversed with Oak about Nuztai’s Dexlocke, and how a similar challenge existed in Alola, despite there being no gyms. Talk of the trials of the Kahuna quickly peaked Nuztai’s attention, who insisted on visiting the region. Leaving his partners in Oak’s expert care, Nuztai and his mother left for the Alola region.

Nuztai chose the energetic Popplio and nicknamed him Dean. Together, they began their adventure to both relax from his traumatic challenge of the Indigo League and gradually begin his new challenge. Professor Kukui, upon meeting Nuztai, made the same Dexlocke challenge request of him as Professor Oak did: To catch all of the region’s native pokemon in a comprehensive living dex, but with the added challenge of catching all the Alolan forms of other region’s pokemon for additional study.

Our hero’s journey began with a terrifying first encounter: the flying pokemon, Pikipek. It was his first encounter on Route 1 of Alola, thus his first chance to add to his team, but beads of sweat poured down his face all the same, as all he could do was remember Barry. But Dean sensed his fear, and began to dance in a reassuring way, and together, they captured Pikipek and named her Lilith.

Training since has been much smoother than in Kanto. He’s caught Sam the Alolan Meowth at the trainer’s school, Zeus the Magnemite in Hau’oli City, and Abaddon the Ghastly in the Hau’oli Cemetery. But these were standard catches…

Upon entering a pokemon center one day, an old man called out to Nuztai. He told him he had a rare pokemon that needed care, but he couldn’t risk keeping it any longer. The old man then shoved a red pokeball and glimmering stone into Nuztai’s hands and took off, shooting glances everywhere. Gift pokemon are acceptable by the rules he registered with, so he accepted the pokemon, and Bobby the Munchlax with it’s mysterious Snorlium Z joined the team.

The first trial, filled with its normal/dark type pokemon were quickly dispatched by Lilith the Pikipek and her rock smash attack, allowing Nuztai to aquire the Normalium Z. Further training in the trial site led to the team addition of Castiel the Alolan Diglet, and the evolutions of Lilith and Dean.

For now, the journey continues without fatality. How long with he last?...
